Republicans Blamed Trans People and Iran to Protect Fascists
A Nazi manifesto should be enough.
The San Diego mosque attackers told the world what they were: Nazis, Hitler fans, Great Replacement conspiracy believers, fascists who wanted Muslims dead.
Fox News looked at that record and searched for another enemy.
That’s the story.
The “trans shooter” rumor moved first. Then the manifesto came back fascist, and the right pivoted. Iran. Immigration. The mosque. The border. Anything except the politics written on the killers’ own weapons, symbols, and pages.
In this episode, I argue that Republicans and Fox News hosts do this because fascists protect fascists.
They know exactly how to turn one killer into an indictment of a whole group. They do it to trans people. They do it to Muslims. They do it to immigrants. They do it to Black people. They do it to the left.
But when the killer is a fascist, suddenly the manifesto disappears and the search for a scapegoat begins.
Not because they are confused.
Because they recognize their own politics when the killer says it without euphemism.
This episode follows the same script across Charleston, Pittsburgh, El Paso, Buffalo, Club Q, Nashville, and San Diego.
When the dead can be used against their enemies, Republicans make them evidence.
When the killer is one of theirs, they blame the victims and anyone who shares a similar skin tone.
